After being in the food truck business for many years, Tony Luke Sr. decided to try his luck at a stationary sandwhich shop. In 1992, he, along with his sons Tony Jr. and Nicky, literally build Tony Lukes from the ground up. After they were done laying the foundation and framing, and all the construction had finished, they opened their doors in February of 1992. Originally selling just italtian specialty sandwhiches, They were soon bombarded with such a demand for cheesesteaks that they were forced to add them to their menu period lucky they did, because Tony Lukes would go on to become one of Philadelphias best known cheesesteak institutions. Having won multiple BEST OF PHILLY awards for almost everything on their menu, they were soon inducted into the BEST OF PHILLY hall of fame. What started over 20 years ago as a father and sons business is now a family business that spans 3 generations, who still work tiressly toward providing their customers with the best product they can.
